Session 2
Nomadic Learning: building personal learning networks

Presenter
Ollie Bray Learning Teaching Scotland

This round table workshop will look at how professionals can use on-line and mobile tools to build personal learning networks with other educators across Scotland, the United Kingdom and Internationally.

You will have an opportunity to discuss and be shown how to use freely available resources to gain knowledge, listen, collaborate and share with others. The Internet offers a fascinating learning landscape but many 21st century leaders still need to understand and learn how to navigate it efficiently. In fact, improving your use of the web could be one of the best efficiency saving that schools could make.

During the session will also have an opportunity to ask questions about emerging technologies that can be applied to learning such as websites, blogs, Podcasts, collaborative documents, RSS and twitter.

At the end of the workshop you will be equipped with a toolkit that will allow you to collaborate with others and start to make better use of social media.

Ollie Bray is currently seconded to Learning and Teaching Scotland as National Advisor for Emerging Technologies in Learning. He is an early adopter of social media in education and has won numerous awards for the innovative use of ICT in schools.
